Here are a few guidelines to help keep this arena enjoyable and beneficial to all:
When responding to a member of this forum, please do so with a little extra respect. Be honest, be frank, be clear, and be gentle when feasible.
Show gratitude for others' contributions. You can use written replies. Also consider upvoting their post (note the little voting tool at the bottom right of every post), or sending them a personal chat message.
Keep the posts informational, inquisitive, and useful. Minimize small talk, banter, attacking, or venting.
Flag posts that seem grossly off-topic, or contain spam (see the 3 dots stacked to the right of the voting tool)
My personal apologies to any non-spammer human who's account was wrongfully deleted in the Great User Purge of September 2021. My intention was to rid us of the thousands of spammer accounts, but I know that the accounts of many innocent were lost as well. If you are a spam bot or spammer human reading this, may you rest in peace. If you are a well-intentioned human reading this and your legit account was banned or deleted, welcome back and please create a new account if you haven't already. The good news is that we emptied the swamp. The new Domegaia forum experience is totally free of reusable ink cartridges, cheap airline tickets, and escort services. Let's go!
I have redacted the short-lived policy requiring new users to make a post within 30 days. Based on welcome and healthy influence from Johena, irate users, and admins from other forums, I see that the benefits of providing anonymous access to legit users outweighs the detriment of inevitably harboring CCP spam bot accounts.
Practicing empathy and compassion is especially important when conversing in digital text environments which are void of vocal intonation and body language.
When replying to someone on a challenging topic, it's important to be in touch with where that member is at on an emotional level, as much as possible.
Our response may be accurate, correct, polite, and intended to help, but if we fail to connect with that person then what is gained?
Discussing aircrete, tools, and technique may seem all about logic and information at first glance, but at the root many if not most people are learning about aircrete in an effort to get their most basic needs met for safety, shelter, stability, and community.
Merriam-Webster defines empathy as "the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner. Also : the capacity for this."
@Zander Well I found out the easy way to do it.
The combination of my old eyes, my cheap laptop screen and the light orange coloring made me miss the X in the upper left hand corner of the pop up. On a better screen I saw the X and clicking on the X disabled notifications.
