Vapor Barrier in AirCrete Sauna?
-
Hello. New user here.
I'm building a small, 5'x5'x7' aircrete block "shack" to be used as a sauna.
I'm wondering about a vapor barrier. Any traditional stick-framed sauna plans include a (usually foil) vapor barrier between the fram/bat insulation and the interior cedar cladding. Is this necessary with aircrete block? It seems unnecessary, but there will be brief periods of high humidity created by ladling water on hot rocks to create steam. It's nothing like a steam bath, but it's not nothing. Basically, am I risking stability of the block if the inside is repeatedly exposed to humidity spikes with temps cycling as high as 190-200F?
In general, I'm surprized aircrete is not more often used for sauna. The waterproof/insulationi properties seem to make it a no brainer. What am I missing?
THanks
Pherick

@niartallagh I'm a new user also, wish you have good luck on your project, just find out about this product and very interested on your opinion about it and did you already build a Dom? Will love to have your opinion, I'm about to get registered for a workshop as soon they have something close to my area in NC.
Good luck on your project. I work with special finishes, stucco and plaster. -
@miguelangel I have not yet built a dome. This will be my first aircrete project. I will probably make a few planters and boxes to test everything out.
