      Hi everyone!
What are your experiences when it comes to exterior plaster and paint to make a dome waterproof? I assume just regular plaster will not be sufficient with lots of rain.

I found some waterproofing elastomeric paint like Lanco Aqua proof or Siliconizer and was considering applying two coats on top of the plaster.

Any comments or suggestions on that?
      Many thanks!

@claudettn I encourage you to read thru all the provided literature on the DomeGaia web sight. Most questions have been addressed there.

@anthonydjones Thanks for your advice. However, I wasn't able to find anything on that specific topic... would you be able to share a link?

Sure, go to https://www.domegaia.com. Then click on "Aircrete" Then click on "Recipies" (f7fc1b4e-91ba-4c10-a56a-c898dbc43ea6-image.png image url).
Read toword the bottom and find Fabric Glue. To my understanding this waterproofs your structure.

@claudettn Quickly. Standard industry procedure for exterior stucco (not plaster) is three coats. One rough scratch coat at least 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Second scratch coat roughly the same. And finally a third finish coat textured or applied to your liking. All stucco mixes are at least 3-4 parts fine sand to cement. Use a high quality elastomeric waterproof/glue/hardener. Follow directions for ratio to water when mixing. THEN finally apply at least 2 coats of your cement sealer or acrylic clear coat. OR just buy high quality premix stucco bags and save yourself all the hassle of this. In my opinion this is one area that you do not want to cut corners.

@Nate_D Thanks so much, your answer is very helpful and gives me a better understanding of the basics. I agree this is a very important subject and needs to be done well. Currently applying the base coats! 🙂
                Thanks!
