Greetings from the Pacific. I am planning to build an aircrete dome home, but before I do I was wondering if I could go as large as 40' diameter without jeopardizing any of the structural integrity.
I have been watching a family in a neighboring island build their 20' and it looks absolutely amazing. I just want to go bigger then add some smaller rooms onto it if I need them down the line.

I would like to know the answer to this too. Just how big can one safely go with an aircrete dome?

          hi beach bum
The dome is an inherently stable shape so size should not be a problem. At the workshop Hijar said with Steve’s dome they were worried that forces on the dome could push outwards so added buttressing around the base, which they later decided was unnecessary. But I’d try something smaller to start with.

@beachbum Your welcome... btw, did you build the 40' dome finally? We are planning to do one of those, if you already have the experience, the info will be useful for us.

                  Thanks in advance and regards

@moralesgg I haven't started any of the project yet. Currently I am trying to get all the info I can before I start. My wife gave me the go a head to build a dome home for us as we live on a small island in the Pacific and we are prone to typhoons. I was researching for the better part of a year on how to build here, then I came across aircrete, I feel like I can not go wrong with a dome here. Concrete is a little more expensive here (10.50 per 80lbs bag) so it's still going to take some time. I want to set up a YouTube channel once I get going.
There is another guy I found on YouTube from a close by island, Yap who just finished their 20'. You should check that one out if you're interested.

@Kwagga Think I just saw the same video. I mean how many Yap dome home videos could there be, right? Here is the one I found.
