I owe some overdue thanks to Mr Gibran and the Domegaia team for taking the time to share their knowledge of aircrete on youtube. It is a subject that quite frankly I have become obsessed with. Darwin Arnold over at the Honeydo Carpenter Channel expressed his admiration of the Domegaia Team as well. In this video Darwin addressed some of the questions we have been discussing on this thread. I would ask that you consider donating to his Kickstarter if you find it a worthy cause.

I love this forum everyone is sharing knowledge and asking questions. I am going to invite HDC to come address some of these questions about his particular design. Yall bring up relevant points that deserve consideration. I know he spent months of experimenting with the aircrete refractory mix alone. Yall are a wonderful group!

The heat riser in this heater uses an aircrete refractory mix developed by this guy. He used to work in a lab testing concrete. The recipe is available for download on his Etsy if you are interested in checking it out. https://www.etsy.com/listing/597937472/air-crete-refractory-mix?ref=shop_home_active_5&crt=1

    • RE: Foam Recipe

@atravis4 I inquired at my local agricultural COOP if they could get Drexel and how much it would cost. They said no but had something similar. So apparently they use the Drexel like product to mark where they have sprayed herbicides on a pasture to ensure everything gets sprayed. I read also the surfactant in it makes it stick to the plants better. The lady at the COOP said they referred to it as a marking agent. So maybe if you try to get some from Ag supply stores you could ask for the stuff that they use to mark where they have sprayed or the stuff they add to make the spray stick to the plants. I have checked several different Ag stores here and they give you a blank look when you ask about a foaming agent.

    • RE: To what temperatures does Aircrete remain fireproof?

@atravis4 This vid does not give a specific temp that AC is good for but does give you an in-use-application.

    • RE: Trying new Air Crete Gun

Hi folks. Thanks for doing all the work with aircrete. I ended up using a 32:1 suave shampoo for foaming agent. Unfortunately I did not weigh the foam. I was having difficulty getting a decent foam. My water supply is very acidic and very soft. I started over with this design. The soap solution is injected at the end of the gun and air is injected at the bottom of the u shape. My thought is injecting the air into a chamber flooded with soap solution would be better than end feeding both the air and soap solution at the same entry point. Looking right to left Beginning at the top of the second leg the u to the exit end of the gun I packed Stainless steel scrub pads very tightly. The exit hole of the gun is 1/4 inch. It seemed to me that the flow rate of air was less using this design. I am just throwing this design out there. I did not do any quantitative measurements only eyeballing my results. I believe that packing the SS pad very tightly drastically decreased my required airflow rates. It should be noted I have not actually produced any aircrete yet.

    • Active Storm Season

Well, I was hoping to avoid storms from the Gulf of Mexico this season and get a dome up before next season. Does not look like that will be the case. I hope everyone in the path is preparing. I wish all safety during the storm. Supposed to be a fast mover so less flooding.

    • RE: Foam Recipe

From personal experience 32:1. But this needs to be individualized by experimentation with your water. The way I did it was make foam and measure the collapse after 45 mins. The time was arbitrarily chosen.

    • RE: To what temperatures does Aircrete remain fireproof?

@Doc this guy is doing research on ac and has a couple of pdfs for sale on etsy. He has multiple vids on youtube and used to do quality control on concrete.. I have not bought the refractory pdf yet but if you need any clarification he will fill in any blanks. He also goes live on Sat am. He has also come up with an evap cooling unit using an ac block as the evap media and a very low power circulating fan that he is going to open source the drawings. Perhaps he may have an opinion. He has an engineering buddy that is currently conducting strength tests on ac. Even more exciting is BASF is supposedly going to send some of their products to the guy doing the testing to try to make ac more flexible. here are his links:
