@greenfire Hey Darlene, it's Heather :) I agree, the span has become a problem, and it takes a very long time to eliminate each post one by one. I have been meaning to get in contact with the creator to see if he has any ideas on how to mitigate it. Thanks so much for offering to help!

RE: North West Louisiana
@HandyDan What i see online about synthetic stucco does not seem to apply to a dome. Particularly, I read that EIFS uses a layer of foam board. Could you please clarify what you mean by synthetic stucco?

RE: Shredded styrofoam rather than foam inclusion?
@HandyDan Agreed. I think EPS has some noxious emissions, especially compared to cement, air, water, and dish soap. If not in the finished product, the EPS mfg process includes bad emissions if I recall correctly.

RE: Wall thickness and R value correlation
@HandyDan I like the Fairy Tale of R value. That is, it is entertaining to read about. I agree with the point the article is making.

RE: Specs on dome home for strength
HandyDan, what size was your test block?

RE: Air compressor setup to suit the Little Dragon???
Two compressors that we have successfully used:
California Air Tools 2010a.
- $174 on AmazonPrime.
- Very quiet indeed.
- Powerful 1.0 HP (Rated / Running) 2.0 HP (Peak) Motor.
- 2.20 CFM @ 90 PSI
- Not feasible to power with a 2000w generator for those building off-grid
Porter-Cable C2002 150 PSI, 6 Gal. Oil-Free Pancake Compressor
- $99 at Home Depot
- .8 HP motor
- 2.6 SCFM@90psi
I edited this post because it was recommending the California Air Tools 1P1060S. However, that unit is only rated at 1.5 CFM @ 90PSI and we have not used it to make Aircrete (although we have it around the shop for misc little tasks).

RE: Opinions about my Aircrete
@usa_philippines Speaking in very rough terms, aircrete can be about 1/7 the cost of concrete. It can also be about 1/7 of the weight, and about 1/7 of the strength. These are rough estimates depending on the technique used. For more info: http://www.domegaia.com/aircrete.html
